  1. This year’s Christmas party is a bust, of course. Phyllis oversteps her boundaries with Angela, Meredith gets drunk and sets her hair on fire, and Dwight corners the market on this year’s hottest toy. Just another Christmas at the office!

Jim has gift-wrapped Dwight’s entire desk. Only he replaced the desk and everything on it with cardboard so when Dwight touches it, it completely collapses.

The Christmas party theme this year is “Nights in Morocco”. There’re Moroccan style fabrics hanging around and the guys are wearing fezzes. Phyllis wants Angela to move her nativity scene and the Christmas tree because they don’t fit the theme. Phyllis gets away with it because she knows about Angela and Dwight’s, um…rendezvous.

Dwight buys up all the hot toy of the year, Princess Unicorn, to sell at an inflated rate. Princess Unicorn looks like a Barbie with a horn glued to her head. Lame. There’s no way that would be the hot toy of the year. It doesn’t even take batteries.

Everyone enjoys the Christmas party. Well, everyone except Angela since Phyllis has her doing all the work. Andy has brought his sitar, Creed has a hookah, and Meredith gets her drunk on and belly dances.

After the belly dance, Meredith manages to catch her hair on fire and Dwight has to hose her down with the fire extinguisher. Michael decides to stage an intervention for Meredith about her drinking. Meredith insists that she’s not an alcoholic, but just a party girl. Everyone gives up on the intervention but Michael. He takes Meredith out for a drink, really intending on taking her to rehab, but she doesn’t know this. Meredith refuses to go in to the rehab and they chase around the parking lot. Michael drags her in but he can’t have her admitted against his will. He believes she needs to hit rock bottom before she’ll go and he intends to help her do that.

Phyllis totally takes advantage of her power over Angela, but Angela confronts Phyllis and Phyllis yells out to everyone in the room about Angela and Dwight. Dwight looks smug. Andy was not in the room, so when he comes back in, things are understandably awkward. He’s completely oblivious, of course.

Toby wants to buy a Princess Unicorn doll for his daughter but Darryl bought the last one from Dwight. Toby buys it from him for $400 but is surprised to find that the doll is an African-american version.

And…that’s the episode. It was kind of weak, if you ask me. It seemed like nothing happened, but it was nice to see Meredith on screen for once. Also, we got some great tips for killing zombies. So the episode wasn’t a total loss. Let us know what you thought! Leave a comment!

  2. i agree it was a little bit weak. although it was hilarious when her hair caught on fire, i feel like Meredith (and Stanley, too) are becoming more shallow and one-joke. i did love the back and forth with Phyllis and Angela though -- hard to believe that they made Angela was the more likable of the two.
